Spot the dog going charity walkies. It’s time to do something funny for money, and this year even your pets can get involved. A Stockport business is offering Red Nose Day themed treats for dogs to help raise cash for Comic Relief. The national charity event sees people donning red noses and getting up to silly things to raise money for disadvantaged people in this country and abroad. And not wanting to see pets left out of the fun, Katie Anderson, who runs Snobby Dogs in Woodley, will be offering dog owners the chance to have their dogs made up with a red ‘nose’ ahead of the big day on March 18. The bright red circles ,which look like the red noses on sale in shops, can be painted onto any dog at the shop during a special Comic Relief fundraising day on Sunday March 13. There’s no fee for the treatment on the day, but dog owners are asked to make a donation to Comic Relief in return for having a painted dog. Katie said “People can give whatever they want, whether that’s 50p or a lot more. It’s such a good cause, and we wanted to do something but none of the manufacturers seemed to do anything for dogs to join in with. We couldn’t use the paint around their nose and mouth, so we decided to paint the noses on their bodies.” A sponsored woodland walk is also on offer on Sunday March 13, starting from the shop on Hyde Road, Woodley. For sponsorship, or a minimum £5 donation, people and their dogs can join in with the one hour Comic Relief themed walk followed by a free drink from Out to Lunch. Katie said “We’ll be open from 10am to 2pm for the noses and then the walk begins at 11am. It’ll go ahead whatever the weather, but if it gets really muddy the route may change. And for a week from March 14, 50 per cent of proceeds from cosmetic grooming treatments, including spray-painted red noses will also be given to Comic Relief. |
