City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02)

The Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants course gives you the basic skills you need to start working in a dog grooming environment under supervision.

THE COURSE WILL COVER

  • Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing
  • Bathe and clean dogs
  • Clean and maintain equipment used for grooming
  • Control and restrain animals
  • Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling
  • Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment

Students will receive all course materials and it is recommended that students bring along a camera for before and after photographs as well as pens, high-lighters and notepads.

COURSE LENGTH: 25 Days

COURSE FEE: £3,495 inclusive of City & Guilds Registration Fees, Assessment Fees and Multiple Choice Examinations.

The Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (603/0891/3)

The OCN Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming will demonstrate you have the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully groom a wide variety of dogs.  

Over the duration of your course, you will groom a minimum of 10 different breeds in a minimum of 15 different styles 

The course will cover:

  • Welcome, Receive and Care for Customers
  • Assess, Plan and Record Dog Grooming Work
  • Health Checking a Dog by a Dog Groomer
  • Carry Out Styling and Finishing of a Dog
  • Promote and Maintain the Health and Well-Being of Animals
  • Canine First Aid - you will take part in a one day interactive seminar led by a qualified veterinary surgeon, veterinary nurse or suitably qualified pet care professional to attain the only nationally accredited and certified Pet First Aid Course for pet care professionals.

Students will receive all course materials and it is recommended that students bring along a camera for before and after photographs as well as pens, high-lighters and notepads.

COURSE LENGTH: 36 Days

COURSE FEE: £3,950 inclusive of OCN Registration & Assessment Fees

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming (7863-03)

The City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma will provide those who already hold the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants with the additional practical skills and knowledge that are important for working as a professional Dog Groomer.

For newcomers to Dog Grooming, this course will only be offered in conjunction with the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants.

The course will cover:

  • Health and safety legislation and codes of practice for the dog grooming industry
  • The preparation, styling and finishing of dogs
  • Health checking and handling a dog in a dog grooming environment
  • Customer service and records keeping in a dog grooming environment

Students will receive all course materials and it is recommended that students bring along a camera for before and after photographs as well as pens, high-lighters and notepads.

COURSE LENGTH: 17 Days

Pet First Aid Course

The only nationally accredited and certified Companion Animal CPCT and Pet First Aid Course for Pet Care Professionals.

This is a one day interactive seminar led by a qualified veterinary surgeon, veterinary nurse or suitably qualified pet care professional.

The interactive sessions provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills learning for anyone who works with and/or owns small companion animals.  The course is delivered in a friendly and enjoyable environment that encourages learning.

THE COURSE:

  • Will allow you to follow the same procedures that a veterinary surgeon or nurse would employ if they were the first on the scene of an animal emergency
  • Is based on current scientific information
  • Is continuously monitored to ensure that the content is always up to date

COURSE RESOURCES INCLUDE:

  • Comprehensive course manual with extensive notes and references
  • Sample first aid kits and equipment including a wide selection of bandaging materials (for the use during the day only)
  • Realistic replica animals on which to practice bandaging and splinting
  • Resusci-pet manikins to allow hands-on practice assessment of vital signs, performing CPCR bandaging and transportation
  • Considerate use of live subjects is also available to practice assessment of vital signs and bandaging.
  • Certificate of course completion
